Much of the time this can be seen by the naked eye in decent light grey areas in the grooves dull finish actual etch marks at specific points in the record etc but once in a while you ll simply be caught by groove damage that can t be seen.

I don t think grounding is the issue as the noise is mostly crackles pops hisses and a constant hissy sound only audible when the record is playing and not audible through anything digital.
